Yamamoto's sense for quietude and continuity took root from the images of German artist August Sander whose photographic portraits of proud men and women - singular in their approaches to life - demonstrate that the same light of active participation and intellect unites them. Similarly the men who walked this evening for Yamamoto, who represented a cross-section of different ages, ethnicities and forms, served to remind that what is hauntingly beautiful about this designer is his ability to create an intersection where so many people may meet.
