A mix of body-hugging pieces and predominant loose silhouettesShareLink copied ✔️September 13, 2010FashionShowPhotographyMorgan O'DonovanTextDavid HellqvistThakoon Womenswear S/S11 Flowing, see-through and in light colours and white, Thakoon’s Sunday show was a strong Spring Summer collection. Focused on dresses, the Thai-born designer paraded stylishly comfortable models up and down his catwalk. Having dressed First Lady Obama on several occasions, this collection also showed that the Thakoon brand works for street smart young women. Mixing in a few body tight numbers with his predominately loose silhouettes, the collection was another step in the right direction for Thakoon Panichgul. Dazed Digital: What influenced the show? Thakoon: It was simple, I wanted something that felt fresh and laundered. It was almost like the clothes were taken straight from the machine and twisted around the body. DD: So what kind of fabrics did you use for that? Thakoon: I found this material that reminded me of a mattress fabrics, which you saw in dresses and skirts. It was almost bondage, the idea was to turn a mattress into a straight jacket! DD: Do you have a favourite piece in the collection? Thakoon: I love the simple dress in vanilla; it curves differently on the body every time you wear it. Escape the algorithm!
