East London eaterie Bistrotheque galvanised pop-up restauranting with their original Reindeer restaurant in 2006. This weekend, they kick off a three day feast with another pop-up at Patrón Silver Reindeer that will be set within Big Sky Studios in Kings Cross. To fill the 4,500 sq ft space, Gary Card and his cardboard helpers have taken nine hours to build a installation that whilst themed around a snowflake manages to avoid any traces of Santa or snowmen. "I managed to get away with using a snowflake as the overall theme! The idea of lapping snowflakes making really dramatic shapes was inspired by Cornelia Parker's exploding shed piece 'Cold Dark Matter'; I wanted to create something that has a sense of mystery about it, yet feels spectacular, beautiful and of course, Christmassy," explains Card.
Patrón Silver Reindeer opened last night with a feast that fed the likes of Gareth Pugh, Henry Holland, Lulu Kennedy, Stephen Jones, Roksanda Ilincic and fellow restauranters like Fergus Henderson were also present.
Bistrotheque will be entertaining their snowflake-housed guests with a menu of eclectic English seasonal fare as well as cocktails by Patrón Tequila. Patrón Silver Reindeer is priced at £67.50 a head, and bookings can be made by calling 020 8983 7900 and is open 11, 12, 13 December.
