When I think of Fendi I think of luxurious fabrics, cut in the most perfect way, in the richest colours with a tradition of amazing accessories to match. The A/W collection ticked all these boxes but also introduced some genuinely new shapes, ideas and details into menswear. The show began with a Balenciaga inspired bubble coat pared with knitted track bottoms and formal shoes. This formal meets casual mix was a running theme throughout the collection giving a modern feel to tuxedo jackets, shearling coats, layered knitwear and ankle skimming tailored trousers. The knitwear covered with tiny gold discs was especially beautiful. Alongside bags emblazoned with the double F logo, the innovative use of fur, and beautifully made belts and shoes this collection confirmed that Fendi continues to present its brand’s heritage in a brave new way for yet another season.
