Balmain is making a return to Couture next year

The Parisian house hasn’t presented a Couture collection for 16 years

Since joining Balmain in 2011, current creative director Olivier Rousteing has done a lot. Among his most recent achievements are the CGI model-led Pre-Fall 2018 campaign and the creation of not one, but two iconic wardrobes for Beyoncé’s Coachella set this year. Now, the designer has his eyes set on Couture, announcing that he will be debuting his first collection for the house next January.

“(I’m) looking to bring back the Parisian DNA,” the designer told WWD, referencing the label’s past as a Couture house. While it was a part of the DNA for previous designers at the helm, the last Couture collection was presented by Oscar de la Renta back in 2002.

While we wait for the official schedule to drop – likely to include non-Couture labels like Vetements – watch Balmain’s last show below.
