Over the past year, we have seen the likes of John Galliano, Tom Ford, Versace, Gucci, Burberry – in fact, the whole of LFW – and the city of Los Angeles ditch the controversial material. Now, Coach has also said it will no longer be using fur in its collections. “We understood from our employee population and from our consumers that it was important to them that we take a stand on this issue,” the label’s chief executive Joshua Schulman told the Business of Fashion. “We’re doing it because we believe it’s the right thing to do.” By the time Coach presents its AW19 collection next year, the label will have eradicated any type of fur within its clothing, but will continue to use shearling for its signature biker jackets.
