From San Fran to Singapore – tomorrow Kanye is opening Pablo stores all around the world
It’s hard to remember a time when Kanye West was solely known for his music – thanks to his multiple collaborations with adidas and his Yeezy line, the rapper’s almost as famous for his clothes these days.
This includes Ye’s Pablo tour merch – so far he’s sold at temporary stores in Los Angeles, Paris and New York where he reportedly sold a million-dollars worth of stock. Now, however, he’s taking these stores global.
In the early hours of the morning (UK time), the rapper-slash-mogul revealed that tomorrow, 21 Pablo stores will be opening around the world. As well as 13 cities in the US, the pop-ups will be coming to London, Amsterdam and Berlin, and a string of other places such as Cape Town, Sydney and Melbourne. As for the exact locations, they will be revealed on Kanye’s website 24 hours before they open.
But he’s not the only music artist flogging tour merch. In actual fact, merch is becoming more and more of a fashion phenomenon with Justin Bieber, Zayn Malik and Drake all dropping sell-out collections. This, and the fact that artists are frequently being employed by brands to star in fashion campaigns and even design collections, demonstrates just how interconnected the worlds of music and fashion are right now.
In other Kanye news, it has been announced that the designer will be staging his Yeezy Season 4 show on September 7th (the same day as Tom Ford’s presentation), as part of New York Fashion Week. Given that his last show involved a live album stream, appearances from Young Thug and Naomi Campbell, and hundred of street-cast models, this season’s event will certainly be one to watch.
