Rumours of his exit have been circulating for months, with the Parisian fashion house initially brushing them off as “false speculation.” However, according to a statement released last night, the news has now been made official. “What Yves Saint Laurent has achieved over the past four years represents a unique chapter in the history of the house,” announced Kering CEO Francois-Henri Pinault. “I am very grateful to Hedi Slimane, and the whole Yves Saint Laurent team, for having set the path that the house has successfully embraced, and which will grant longevity to this legendary brand.” Slimane has yet to make a comment, though he did share a portrait of Saint Laurent partner Pierre Bergé – one of his biggest supporters at the label – this morning: pic.twitter.com/Ld7BkrD0kE— Hedi Slimane (@hedislimanetwit) April 1, 2016 Slimane’s Saint Laurent departure follows a slew of other fashion world exits; including Alexander Wang from Balenciaga, Raf Simons from Christian Dior, Alber Elbaz from Lanvin.
