Shot by David Sims, the ad features twigs and South London-born dancer Kaner Flex pulling some gymnastic poses in the brand’s SS16 collection. Unveiled today, the campaign comes with a film created in conjunction with her latest single, “Good to Love”. Demonstrating the breadth of her creative faculties, twigs directed this film as well as starring in it. “I guess it’s kind of tongue in cheek, fun, sexy but still with the emotional ignition and openness that I always aim to achieve when I direct,” she says. “I wanted to make something that could feel artistically futuristic, tense, crucial, loaded, emotionally complicated but ultimately still include the seductive, free and young feel of Calvin Klein.” Shot in black and white like the campaign, the film sees twigs and Flex engaging in a sensuous pas de deux in increasing states of undress. But this isn’t twigs’ first Calvin Klein ad – the former Dazed cover star starred in the brand’s mainline SS16 campaign too, alongside fellow musicians Kendrick Lamar, Justin Bieber, Fetty Wap and Joey Bada$$, and models Kendall Jenner, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Adwoa Aboah and Saskia de Brauw.
