Ahead of his AW16 show on Saturday, the designer has previewed his SS16 campaign (his first since leaving the house) in a series of Polaroids posted to Instagram. For this campaign, Wang has cast an eclectic mix of models and musicians, from Houston trap king and Dazed 100 star Travi$ Scott to K-pop singer CL, his long-term muse Hanne Gaby, former Dazed cover girls Molly Bair and Binx Walton, and Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber. There’s also a couple of new faces too: SS16 breakout stars Peyton Knight (distinguishable by her bowl cut) and Alice Metza who recently trod the runway boards at Christian Dior’s haute couture show. But Wang isn’t the first to supplement his campaign with non-model talent this season; Marc Jacobs cast director Lana Wachowski, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Milk and former frontwoman of Gossip Beth Ditto (among others) for his SS16 visuals and Calvin Klein chose avant-pop artist FKA twigs and hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar (again, among others) for theirs.
