If that’s true, then landing a Prada campaign is pretty much like winning Best Actress, and this season the accolade goes to 17-year-old Dutch model Yasmin Wijnaldum. Posting a sneak peek of the campaign on her Instagram, the model wrote, “Preview of the New Spring/Summer @Prada Campaign Can't believe this, so grateful!!” A new face on the modelling scene, this is Wijnaldum’s first major campaign and comes in the wake of a stellar show season during which she trod the catwalk boards for a slew of luxury brands including Prada, for whom she walked exclusively in Milan. In these images, shot by acclaimed photographer and Prada favourite Steven Meisel, Wijnaldum poses in the brand’s SS16 collection alongside modelling industry veterans, Natalia Vodianova and Sasha Pivovarova. As for the collection itself, it reflected the house’s good-taste-bad-taste or “ugly chic” aesthetic for which it’s known and celebrated for. With hints of 70s wallpaper and references to Tom Dixon furniture, Miuccia Prada served up patterned organzas, check-ridden tweeds, stripy patents and skirt suits, along with bauble Christmas decoration earrings and shoes adorned with similarly bauble-like silver orbs.
