The Edward Scissorhands actress has already starred in several of the designer’s fashion campaigns up to now – including back in 2003, straight after that whole shoplifting fiasco. And now, according to news posted on the label’s social media accounts, the pair are joining forces again: with Ryder now officially the new face of the Marc Jacobs Beauty collection. “It is with great pride (and pleasure) that I ‘leak’ this image from our upcoming 2016 MARC JACOBS BEAUTY campaign,” Jacobs wrote on his Instagram last night. “It stars my dear friend (of over two and a half decades), the stunningly beautiful and extraordinarily talented, Winona Ryder... A brilliant mind, talent, and physical beauty like no other.” Modelling the label’s spring 2016 collection, the actress is apparently channeling french screen icon Delphine Seyrig in one of the designer’s “all time favourite films”, The Last Year at Marienbad. Jacobs describes the 60s star as “timeless” – which is a convenient link, because Ryder has clearly not aged in over two decades. “It’s fantastic, and it’s a huge honor,” she told Allure when the news was announced. “What I love about Marc – and there are many things – is that we both have a very similar penchant for past eras, and the history of fashion and culture... He doesn’t go for the cookie-cutter woman, for lack of a better expression.” In the words of Jacobs himself: #4everwinona. Escape the algorithm!
