It’s official: Raf Simons is leaving his role at Dior. Over the last three years, Simons has infused the legendary French house with his modernist vision, blending futurism with Dior’s own history and a respect for the practical needs of women’s wardrobes. Both critically lauded and commercially successful (profits were up just under 13 percent this year), Simons’ time at the house will be a fondly-remembered chapter in its history. Under his tenure, a feature-length documentary hit cinemas, Rihanna became the house’s first black spokesperson, and Throbbing Gristle provided a show soundtrack – that has to be a first for Dior. To mark his exit, we’ve collected some of our favourite moments from his tenure.
