The boy who rose from a quiet, small town in Kansas to become a man at the very peak of the fashion world as Moschino creative director has barely stopped for breath. Jeremy Scott: The People's Designer is the new film about his life, starring Scott and his high-flying contemporaries; Katy Perry, A$AP Rocky and Miley Cyrus all make appearances. The designer discusses life growing up, looking at a fashion world that seemed so far away. “As a kid, on a farm, in a small town, looking at magazines and seeing high fashion and wanting to be a part of it so badly, I didn't realise the runways were fake and that TV wasn't real,” says Scott. But it wasn’t all Barbie iPhone cases and slogan tees: Scott also references the hardships of breaking into the fashion world, revealing he time spent homeless. “There would be times that I had to sleep in the metro because there was nowhere else to go,” he says. The film focusses on Scott's Moschino debut, the AW14 junk-food inspired “McDonald’s” collection that wowed audiences with its boldness and playful appropriation of pop culture. Scott's clothes always bring the party, there's no reason why the film should be any different. The People's Designer comes out on September 18 this year, watch the trailer below.
