FashionNewsCher is the star of Marc Jacobs’ latest campaignAfter accompanying him to the Met Gala, the cult icon is making her campaign debut for AW15ShareLink copied ✔️May 27, 2015FashionNewsTextEmma Hope AllwoodMarc Jacobs AW15 Legendary diva Cher rocking up to the Met Gala on the arm of none other than Marc Jacobs was one of our official highlights of the fashion world’s biggest night. Really though, after last year the designer appeared on the event’s red carpet with cult King Kong/American Horror Story actress turned Jacobs beauty campaign girl Jessica Lange, we should have guessed there was something more in store. As his campaign muse for next season, Cher replaces the army of young guns Jacobs chose for his distinctly military SS15 campaign (including Dazed cover star Kendall Jenner). Perched on a chair and wearing a dress, jacket and gloves from the same AW14 collection she wore to the Met Gala, the "Believe" singer is the only thing in the minimalist ad’s frame – channelling the show’s distinctly gothic vibes. The collection, which is a twisted take on 40s classics – think governess meets Morticia – was inspired by legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland's apartment. Cher's casting continues a trend of older, female icons being chosen by major fashion brands – see Joan Didion for Céline and Joni Mitchell for Saint Laurent. Who's next?
