With her selfie sticks and signature sense of humour in tow, last week model Georgia Hilmer (Next Model Management) took off to Seoul, South Korea to walk the rainbow polka dot runway of Chanel’s 2016 Resort show. After exploring the city with fellow models including Grace Mahary, Valery Kaufman and Louise Parker, she had her hair done backstage by Sam McKnight and marvelled at two foot long Pocky – documenting it all. See the images in the gallery above, and read more about the trip below.

ON THE POWER OF THE SELFIE STICK

“My first selfie stick was a gift from my friend Jemma to take on this very job! She knew I'd always thought they were a funny tool and this tourist-y trip would be a fun opportunity to play with one. I started to think in terms of selfie stick-able shots. Walking around with one definitely attracts attention...”

ON VISITING SEOUL

“The Chanel trip was my first time in Seoul and I loved the city. A friend of a friend from South Korea showed us around and we definitely got an insider's tour. The city was so vibrant and energised. I was amazed by how international it felt - the diversity of restaurants and cultures represented was astonishing: Bulgarian, Mexican, Greek, Belgian!”

ON LIFE AS A JET-SETTER

“I've had incredible luck traveling as a model. I tend to work with a crew of really enthusiastic girls who are as interested in exploring new places as I am – Grace Mahary, Emma Oak, Louise Parker and Larry Hoffman are always willing to adventure with me. When jet lag and quick turnarounds are involved it's important to find friends willing to commit to whirlwind tours of foreign places. I always want to make sure I'm taking advantage of the opportunities I have to see new things.”

ON THE COLLECTION

“This collection may have been my favourite Chanel has presented yet. I was so into the hair and make-up, I felt like K-Pop personified. Sam (McKnight) and Tom (Peycheux) always seem like they're having the most fun. They take their jobs seriously but bring a lot of joy and sass to the shows.”

ON HER FAVOURITE SNAP

“My favourite photo from the trip is the selfie of Grace, Louise, and I with a gang of Korean toddlers in animal costumes at the National Folk Museum of Korea. They were adorable, we were jealous of their outfits and each group was really amused by and in awe of the other.”
