Or at least, SS16. The British Fashion Council has announced the NEWGEN MEN designers who've nabbed sponsorship from Topman to present their collections in June at London Collections: Men. Bobby Abley, who presented a cheeky crew of lads in Disney-branded neoprene sportswear for MAN SS15, has landed his own catwalk show. FKA twigs favourite Cottweiler (they designed the costumes for her first UK solo tour) and genderbending Dutch designer PIETER (aka Sebastiaan Pieter) will both show presentations at LCM. Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the BFC, commented: “NEWGEN MEN is globally recognised as an identifier of talent and celebrates an industry that is growing rapidly, providing much needed support for the emerging businesses that will one day sit at the helm of the menswear sector. The opportunity to showcase a collection at London Collections Men and the key mentoring support that this initiative offers could not be awarded to twelve more deserving designers, each a unique and exciting success story in the making." The three newcomers join nine other existing NEWGEN-approved designers. Craig Green, Nasir Mazhar, Astrid Andersen and Agi & Sam will all show their collections on the runway. Kit Neale will present a salon show; Alex Mullins and CMMN SWDN will stage a presentation while footwear designer Diego Vanassibara will show his collection in an installation.
