Massimo Giorgetti took us on a MSGM rocket ride with a collection that had sprung from Beastie Boys’ “Intergalactic” video, which also provided the soundtrack. Space race: The models were like a team of rocket specialists – from the engineers in workwear and boiler suits to the scientists in constellation prints and space shuttle and robot appliqués. Teetering between the the late 60s, early 70s moon-landing aesthetic and the 90s obsession with everything space, the collection seemed made for the boys who grew up with a telescope and a planetarium projector in their room. The word ‘Rocket’ was even written down the side of fuzzy teddy bear coats. Fly me to the moon: The space theme was omnipresent. With a rocket ship show invitation, guests were treated to fun Frizzy Pazzy bubblegum as they watched the solar system playing out on screens ahead of the show, and the runway was a futuristic silver walkway, complete with arrows pointing in the direction models were walking.
