The move is in celebration of the recent launch of their flagship store, which, with an eight-story steel and aluminium facade, grey terrazzo walls and mosaic floors, brings a modern Palazzo feel to Manhattan's cityscape. Recent Valentino collections have drawn inspiration from parts of history, with SS15’s ready-to-wear fusing Roman classicism with psychedelic florals, and AW14 Haute Couture looking to Pre-Raphaelite timelessness. With their sans-colour New York collection, however, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Picciolo focussed on highlighting the house's intricate detailing and craftsmanship – without any colourful distractions.
