Fashion / NewsCara and Jourdan join Gisele Bundchen on Forbes rich listBFFs Delevingne and Dunn are some of the new faces to enter the magazine's list of highest-paid supermodelsShareLink copied ✔️August 19, 2014FashionNewsTextZing Tsjeng Forbes has just revealed their annual list of the highest-paid supermodels in the world and, surprise surprise, Gisele Bündchen is sitting pretty at the top of the list for the eighth year running (hey, she does make $128,000 a day). But she might have some competition in the coming years: Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Anja Rubik have all landed spots on the power ranking for the first time. Gisele took home an estimated $47 million in the last 12 months before taxes and fees, thanks to lucrative contracts with Chanel, Caroline Herrera and H&M. Her earnings are also boosted by Brazilian shoemaker Grendene, who gives her a cut of all the sales made from her line of jelly shoes. Just to put her earnings in perspective, Gisele makes $39 million more than Doutzen Kroes and Adriana Lima, who tie for second spot with $8 million each. Understandably, the annual ranking of earning power tends to be dominated by older, more established names – so what's way more interesting are the new faces who've landed in the list, which was expanded to 21 names this year. Cara Delevingne is one new addition to the list, earning $3.5 million thanks to beauty campaigns with Burberry and YSL and endorsement deals with Mulberry, DKNY and La Perla. Her BFF Jourdan Dunn lands in the list with a splash, outranking Cara with $4 million to her name. Fellow newcomer Karlie Kloss pulled in the same amount over the last 12 months, while Anja Rubik entered the list for the first time with earnings of $3.5 million. As Forbes notes, these new arrivals to the list may have been bolstered by their strong social media following. Ivan Bart, senior vice president and managing director of IMG, said: "The first question from brands these days is immediately, ‘how many followers do they have?’ Models can be more famous than a lot of celebrities out there because they have such a large following." Interestingly, almost all of the models on the list have modelled for Victoria's Secret – so whatever you think of the candy-coloured, push-ups and platforms extravaganza, it's clear that it lends a serious boost to models' star power. Earlier this year, Gisele complained that she isn't a fan of the Forbes list, even if she has topped it for almost a decade. "It's sad, because these people who write (the list) do not have my account number!" she told mdemulher in April. "I have been audited in the U.S. because of the Forbes list. And frankly, whether or not I'm in this ranking, I do not care." Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
