Child of the 80s? Then you’ll be familiar with the pre-Furby, pre-Pokemon playground craze of Madballs: bouncy rubber balls with gruesome faces (yep). For Fall, the designer featured his favourite monster pals alongside fuzzy football jerseys and locker room leathers – a mainline collection that, in its subversive take on American nostalgia, stayed true to Scott’s knack for turning pop-culture heritage into fashionable cult classics. Jeremy Scott AW14 The designer’s no stranger to turning fashion houses on their head. The Madballs takeover of Le Pliage is just the latest phase in Scott’s long-running collaboration with the French fashion house – the iconic foldable bag has previously been home to playful Scott prints from colourful computer keyboards to credit cards. And 2014, after all, has seen the launch of Scott’s biggest fashion coup yet – his first collection with Moschino, which saw some familiar golden arches get the chic Milanese treatment.
