Jeremy Laing A/W 09

Published 26 months ago

The Canadian stronghold in New York is strengthened by Laing's latest collection of light reflecting pieces.

It was a happy accident that light was flooding in from outside into the white washed loft where Jeremy Laing showed his A/W 08 collection. The silhouettes were dramatically enhanced when they were against the white drapes. Then there were the references to light itself on the pieces. A marble print, used on boxy dresses, high waisted tapered trousers and waistcoats flickering with white that seemed to catch the light. A light in motion burnt orange photographic print mirrored the movement of the silk dresses, which were cut with their own mini train. Prism effects in a diamond were also used as a photographic print and to add the obvious light reflecting quality, Swarovski pearl studs were seen on jacquard dresses.

It was small and intimate affair, complete with live soundtrack by vocoder-fiends New Feelings that was greatly downsized from last season but was the perfect setup for Laing's light to shine.
