Having recently discussed the history and future of east London on Dazed Digital, the father-and-son duo return with an exclusive preview of their A/W12 collection. Entitled 'Cultures in Between', it continues Casely-Hayford's foray into classic British menswear with a twist. Combining Joe's extensive experience and Charlie's keen eye for sub-cultural themes, the brand has long been the unsung hero of London's menswear scene.

Their coat-focused autumn winter season, from which the pair have selected six key looks, highlights a series of jacket from past decades, such as parka coats from the 60s, puffa jackets from the 80s and bomber jacket from the Noughties. These cult styles have then been run through the creative Casely-Hayford sartorial machinery for their unique reinterpretation. The result, as I'm sure you'll agree, is pretty damn good.

The 'Trafalgar' Coat
"The Trafalgar is a signature Casely-Hayford coat, made in Japan from Scottish tweed. We worked closely with a respected Scottish Mill to source and reintroduce this vintage Gamekeepers tweed, dating back 101 years. Our interpretation uses the original jacquard pattern in a lighter weight construction. The coat is finished off with a leather trim, detachable Blackwatch collar, Japanese brushed cotton lining and signature Casely-Hayford storm flap."

The 'Thames' Varsity Knit
"Knitted in the Donegal Mountains of Ireland from Donegal tweed yarn, Thames  takes colour from the rugged landscape and is knitted in authentic Aran Tweed to create  an anglicised version of the familiar Varsity jacket."

The 'Cabral' Shirt
"Last season we launched a made in England Casely-Hayford Shirt collection. Working with one of the oldest shirt makers in the UK dating back to 1910, each season we produce modern designs that are constructed by a skilled team of machinists in Somerset. The Cabral shirt, taking influence from sportswear sweatshirts, combines horizontal bands of cotton jacquard with solid colour blocks of Italian poplin."

The 'Faeroes' Knitted Cardigan
"Produced by a family of knitters in Piedmont, Italy, Faeroes has become one of our brand signature pieces. It is developed in Italian Merino yarn using a particular stitch and tension which resembles a fabric more closely than a knit. Details such as the dropped shoulder, low buttoning double-breasted fastening, jetted welt pockets, and brushed steel buttons make it a Casely-Hayford classic."

The 'Hebrides' Super Parka
"Made in Japan from Japanese compact cotton and Yorkshire tweed, Hebrides is our luxury Parka. The garment is filled with PrimaLoft 1, the highest performing insulation on the market, first developed for the American Military. The piece was constructed in Japan to meet the high specifications of a functional luxury outerwear item. The pockets and cuffs are trimmed with Japanese leather. The adjustable hood is an all weather design, tonal sleeves are made from Yorkshire tweed."

The 'Viking' Patchwork Knit
"Produced in the Donegal Mountains from Donegal tweed yarn, this crew neck uses a combination of regional stitches. The main body area is knitted in an authentic Aran style and the sleeves feature a random mix of Fair Isle patterns. We wanted to create a clean streamlined modern look on a homespun hand crafted garment."
