The starting point came from the labels founder, Ottavio Missoni, who designed the blue jersey tracksuits for the 1948 Italian Olympic team, as well as competing himself. The blue from the tracksuits is seen throughout the collection, watered down in a number of occasions but still apparent. It shows up in open single button blazers accompanied by matching short cut-off shorts. Across a number of typical Missoni design knits you see the blue again, sometimes fading into sea greens and soft yellows. Missoni staples appear throughout the show, well fitted crew neck knits, longer more informal versions and tailored sleeveless knit shirts. That sea green came through in other forms including loose shaped parka jackets and cropped chino and cuffed shorts. This season at Missoni legwear had been given some interesting thought, with dropped crotch, pleat front and loose fitting trousers a nice addition. A bolder step were the khaki knit leggings and the ¾ length cuffed, almost knickerbocker, trousers, which would take some careful consideration. Escape the algorithm!
