The Eraserhead director has already done much more than his fair share; shooting obscure advertising campaigns for pregnancy tests, Alka-Seltzer and even Barilla pasta sauce. However, it's his secret history with Japan's Georgia Coffee that's probably the strangest of them all. Making the most of Agent Dale Cooper's love for “damn good coffee”, the company commissioned Lynch back in the 90s to reimagine the Twin Peaks world for a special campaign. The four commercials, which were unearthed this week by Open Culture, act as a mini “season” of the show – reconstructing the old sets and reuniting the original cast (including the much-missed Log Lady). They follow Agent Cooper as he tries to solve the mystery of a missing Japanese woman called Asami, while gorging on cherry pie and endless cans of delicious Georgia coffee. A second series of four were planned for the company, but unfortunately it was cancelled when they weren't happy with the first. However, if you just can't wait for the show's 2017 revival, you can now catch up on the entire Georgia coffee season below. Escape the algorithm!
