You'd think that James Franco – the actor, writer, painter, poet, curator, PhD grad, director and musician – would be feeling pretty fulfilled creatively. I mean, there can't be much more that he'd feel the need to do, right? Aside from struggling with the maniacal workload, where would he even find the time?

But, once again, he's defied the laws of everything to take up another time-consuming hobby. The 127 Hours actor announced on his Instagram page on Friday night that he was planning on teaching an eight-part film course at Palo Alto high school – and put out an open call for students to apply.

In a caption accompanying one of his selfies, he wrote: “PALO ALTO HIGH SCHOOL - I will be teaching an 8 part film class for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. Sign up NOW!”

The course will be aimed at students aged between 14 and 18, and will lead to a film being produced and shown at a film festival. And, although Franco has taught classes before (at both NYU and USC), this will be the youngest group so far, and could serve as a nice break from the 14 films he currently has in the pipeline.

Interested students need to apply online by September 10 with a 200-word essay explaining why they'd like to be involved, alongside a one-minute long smartphone-shot video introducing themselves. The course starts on September 13.
