Arts+Culture / NewsTwin Peaks cast records video begging David Lynch to return‘Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like a girl without a secret’ShareLink copied ✔️April 8, 2015Arts+CultureNewsText Thomas Gorton Following David Lynch's revelations that he would be pulling out of directing a Twin Peaks sequel due to a breakdown in negotiations with Showtime, the original cast of the show have filmed an emotional plea to their director. In the video, iconic members of the cast including Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer) and Sherilyn Fenn (Audrey Horne) tell Lynch that the show would be nothing without its creator, delivered in a mysterious Twin Peaks style that relates to their roles on the show. As Lee, who plays the homecoming queen whose murder kicks off the whole series, puts it: "Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like a girl without a secret." Fenn, who played Audrey Horne with perma-raised, Liz Taylor-esque eyebrows, saying that a Lynch-less Twin Peaks would be "like eyes without the brows". The Log Lady even makes an appearance, with actress Catherine E Coulson telling audiences: "Twin Peaks without David Lynch is like a log without its bark." Sadly, she is not shown carrying a log. Lynch announced on Twitter two days ago that he had pulled out of Showtime's revival of the cult show. But it seems that the cast see the prospect of making a sequel without him as a total non-starter. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.— David Lynch (@DAVID_LYNCH) April 5, 2015This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime.— David Lynch (@DAVID_LYNCH) April 5, 2015I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.— David Lynch (@DAVID_LYNCH) April 5, 2015 Showtime still seem optimistic that Lynch could backtrack and return to the show. In a statement, it said: "We continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm." If Lynch doesn't return, here's some directors that we think may be able to fill his shoes... Well, just about. Watch the Twin Peaks cast plead for his return below: Liked this?
