This modernisation is best seen when the ruffles have been applied to the collar of a cropped leather jacket and matching skirt which sums up their intentions. On beige and white jackets and day dresses that ruffle around the chest and neck area, they become formidable structures as opposed to motifs of feminine excess. Still, as the show progressed and the dresses got increasingly delicate and feminine, the romance was still there and of course Valentino red was also present.
