Denim addicts who grew up in the 80s may remember how Closed was considered in those years as a cutting edge company that produced jeans characterised by sober cuts, good fit and innovative stone washing techniques.
Re-launched and renovated in 2003, the company celebrated its 30th anniversary with an heritage collection last year, while keeping on looking to the future producing new washes and “summer dirt” styles inspired by workwear. The recent collaboration with Giuliano Fujiwara, a company established in the 80s by Yoshiaki Fujiwara that tries to combine the best of two world, Italy and Japan, is another way to look into the future while preserving Closed’s quality.

More than a collaboration, this is actually a co-branding project, born out of Giuliano Fujiwara’s creative director Masataka Matsumura’s desire to provide his fans with affordable styles that still bore the imprint of that unique minimalist vision Giuliano Fujiwara showed from its early beginnings.

The keywords to the Fujiwara-Closed collection that features 8 styles are indeed clean lines, fashion sensibility, attention to details and that peculiar Zen aesthetics Matsumura has so far always applied to his designs.
The jackets, trousers and shorts included in the collection in chambray, chino and denim, are inspired by pieces Matsumura picked from the Closed archives, but they are given a fresher look thanks to subtle details, such as triple stitching, asymmetrical pockets, graphic motifs and a special sartorial precision that turns a few garments into timeless unisex pieces.

The project was officially launched during the 76th edition of Pitti Uomo, but the collaboration will develop over 4 seasons.
