Dazed Digital have always been quick to showcase the best fashion films, a few of which made it to the screening event, and in a year where fashion film as a medium is being used even more prolifically to communicate a designer's collection, we thought we would single out the highlights of 2009's Fashion Loves Film event. YSL S/S 2009 | Sarah Chatfield and Chris Sweeney | Yves Saint Laurent | 2008 Sarah Chatfield and Chris Sweeney’s series of seven short films for the YSL Spring/Summer 2009 collection are a tribute to their working relationship with the brand’s creative director, Stefano Pilati. We have showcased three from the series. A former Colonel Blimp production assistant, Chatfield’s breakthrough came with her colourful promo for Lily Allen’s single, Alfie. Photographer Isaia contributes to such publications as W, Italian Vogue, Japanese Vogue, i-D, and advertising clients include Zac Posen, Wolford, Ruffian and Swarovski. Last year she was nominated for the Discovery Award at the Recontres d'Arles. Self-taught filmmaker Kathryn Ferguson works in fashion, music and art film and has had work shown at a range of film festivals including 59th Berlinale and the Cambridge Film Festival. Her fashion films have been showcased on DazedDigital, Vogue.com and SHOWstudio. Since its inception last year, Kathryn has programmed and curated the fashion film strand of The Birds Eye View Film Festival. You need to have the Macromedia Flash plugin installed to be able to play this video.Eyes of the Beholder | Toyin | Replay | 2008 Photographer and filmmaker Toyin has turned her signature, romantic lens on Replay’s Autumn/Winter '08-09 collection, in a wild west inspired showdown. A BEV regular, Toyin has contributed work to publications such as Visionaire, Vogue Nippon and Vogue Homme, and has recently produced a films for David David, Patrick Wolf and Dazed & Confused.
