Often touching on the surreal or dreamlike, Nowicka's subjects can be anything from young girls gazing inquisitively, beautiful women in heavy furs or even faceless families...WHAT's...... your work all about?Pixels! I used to draw in MS Paint and even though I use Photoshop now I kept the pixelated line. Other than technique,my work is about contradictions: loneliness and other people, motherhood and non-conformism, modern and oldschool. It's very bitter-sweet, at least - I want it to be. ... the one piece of work you wish you'd created?None. I admire a lot of artists and I get inspired by their works and biographies but I would never want to do what someone else did. I just don't have that need, even when I'm blown away by someone's talent and self-discipline.... the cleverest thing you ever did?Going back to art after seven year break from it after art school. Being true to myself, following inner motivation and intuition.... the stupidest thing you ever did?I feel really bad when I'm wasting time. Procrastination is the worst thing you can do to yourself.... the most important thing for an artist to remember?Surprise yourself.... do you do in your spare time other than drawing?I love to hang out with my friends in the garden of my house in the summer and to travel with my family in the winter.Especially with my daughter. Mila is such a traveller, she loves being on the move and embraces other culturesas if they were her own. ... next?I'm getting a real kick out of promoting Polish illustration, we've just had a first ever huge exhibition "Ilustracja PL 2010"with over 80 artists. I helped SAR (Association of Advertising Agencies) to organize it and I hope we'll do it every year from now on. We're beginning to work on the book right now.... the point?is you never know what's going to happen. Which is better than worse thing. I think. Escape the algorithm!
