Laura Kirwan-Ashman is a writer, screenwriter, filmmaker, and co-founder of female film collective Sorta Kinda Maybe Yeah. She wrote and performed in the collective's first project, a web series by the same name. She writes and speaks predominantly about DIY filmmaking, race, the female experience, and queerness. Recent projects include short doc 'MAGIC', her directorial debut about black womxn and self-care which won the Eye Want Change smartphone filmmaking competition, and a TV pilot about being a young woman of colour in post-Brexit Britain which she has been developing as part of the Betty Box and Peter Rogers Comedy Writing Programme
