Viral Vine star Adam Perkins has died aged 24

He shot to fame in 2015 with his five-second ‘Welcome to Chili’s’ clip

Adam Perkins, the creator of the infamous “Welcome to Chili’sVine clip, has died aged 24.

The social media star’s death was confirmed by his twin, Patrick Perkins, who revealed that Adam died on April 11. A cause of death is yet to be announced.

“I can’t even really put into words what this loss means for me,” Patrick wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of the brothers. “I’m often asked the question, ‘What’s it like to be a twin?’, and my response is usually, ‘What’s it like to NOT be a twin?’ Being a twin is a very central part of my identity. It’s all I’ve known. And I’m struggling to find the words to explain what it will be like for me to live in this world without him. My best friend.”

Referencing Adam’s 2018 album, Latch Relay – which he released under the name Plas Teg – Patrick revealed that he would be releasing the record on a limited edition vinyl via a label named after Adam’s musical persona. “It will be the first release on Plas Teg Records (@plas.teg),” he continued, “a label that will seek to fulfill his musical destiny that was so tragically cut short.”

Adam found viral fame on Vine in 2015 after sharing a five-second clip of him mocking adverts for the US restaurant chain Chili’s. At the time of writing, the video has over 26 million views. After Vine’s closure in 2016, Adam went to New York University to study music composition, and later joined TikTok, where he amassed almost 20,000 followers.
