Sign up to a free coding workshop for womxn, non-binary, and trans people

Hosted by the Institute of Coding and DIGI-GXL, the event will be an educational, safe space for those interested in pursuing digital careers

The Institute of Coding (IoC) have teamed up with 3D fashion designer DIGI-GXL as part of their new campaign, CTRL Your Future – an initiative to encourage more young people into digital careers. Having worked with Nike and Selfridges, the DIGI-GXL community is paving the way towards a more diverse design industry.

With a large proportion of young girls admitting that they have no real female role models in the tech industry, the free event will provide a safe space for womxn, non-binary, and trans people who are interested in creative tech and digital arts to learn more about the industry.

In a survey, the IoC reported that more than 70 per cent of young people think the digital industry is run entirely by a white, British workforce, so the event will allow young people between the ages of 16 and 18 to gather with young women in the industry to gain insight into the opportunities of a tech career.

The one day event will include a drop in Digi-Zone where IoC representatives will be available to discuss various digital courses and a panel talk on the ways to pave a career in technology and successfully navigate a unique route in the digital world. There will also be interactive workshops in coding, AR fashion activism and 3D design.

The event will taking place on Saturday, November 2, from 10am to 7pm, at The Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, Spitalfields, E1 6QR
