Maeva Giani Marshall

As part of a wave of models challenging conventional notions of beauty, in recent months Maeva Giani Marshall’s striking freckled face has become a regular sight on catwalks around the world. Her freckles are not only beautiful, though – as the result of recovery treatment she underwent following a stroke a few years ago, they’re also a testament to her strength and resilience.

While Marshall had pursued a career in modelling prior to the incident, it wasn’t until after her transformation that she was scouted at a party by an agent who was astounded she hadn’t been spotted before. She’s now making up for lost time, with appearances at Jacquemus, Jil Sander, and Yohji Yamamoto, and a number of high-profile editorials all under her belt.

As for the rest of the year, it’s likely you’ll be seeing a lot more of the Paris-based model, given she’s just been appointed as the French ambassador for adidas – and recently appeared in a shoot photographed by Kendall Jenner. With 2018 off to a flying start, we can’t wait to see what else is in store for her.
