Founded by Daisy Walker, WIF is working to break down old school hierarchies and create a better future for fashion

Fighting the eternal stereotypes of air kissing, bitchiness and backstabbing, Women In Fashion is the collective putting community ahead of competitiveness in an industry known for being cutthroat.

Taking up residence after work hours in an ever-changing array of donated London living rooms, WIF is an open-doors, BYOB antidote to old school, hierarchical ideas of the fashion world. Male or female, veteran or newbie, all are welcome according to Daisy Walker – the fashion photographer who founded WIF two years ago. “If you're an editor or an intern, your experience is of equal value,” she says.

With industry politics left at the door, the resulting space is unique. Drop into a session and you could find yourself discussing anything from the gendered nature of email politics (to ‘x’ or not to ‘x’?) to staying sane on social media, negotiating bodily autonomy as a model, or managing finances as a freelancer – and fighting to get paid what you deserve.

Next up? A podcast, panel, and initiative to raise money for Solace Women's Aid, which offers free counselling to survivors of rape and domestic violence in London.
