The filmmaker shooting music videos for Travi$ Scott and personal moments for Kimye
Imagine a guy in wrap-around sunglasses sporting a peroxide blonde mullet, but instead of being the most infamous gabber at your local techno rave, he’s behind the lens of a VHS camera shooting tender moments for Kylie Jenner and Travi$ Scott.
In 2013, Tyler Ross – now known as White Trash Tyler – was a garbage man in his hometown in Nova Scotia, Canada, when he started making clips for his rapper housemate. This ignited a love of film, pushing him to relocate to LA where he was introduced to Kanye West – going on to shoot the musician’s “Famous” video.
Now, WTT’s oeuvre not only includes home videos for the Kardashians, but music videos for the likes of Travi$ Scott – achieving more in four years than most manage in their entire careers.
While he’s most recently known for the Instagram record-breaking short that introduced Jenner’s not-so-secret secret pregnancy to the world, Ross’s work goes beyond straightforward documentation – illuminating both our voyeuristic obsession with celebrity culture and the way A-listers are taking control of their own narratives.
