A breakout voice from Moscow, Rubchinskiy clashes photography, film and design in a unique vision inspired by post-Soviet youth culture. This year, he brought a gang of street-cast skate kids to his intimate first Paris show, marking a moment of rebirth for the institutional city. He also released a limited edition zine of his photography, Crimea/Kids – which sold out in three days.
Rubchinskiy met 19-year-old DJ Zhit Vredno at an undeground rave in Moscow last summer. The pair went head-to-head in our summer issue, talking about a “new Russia” and their mutual love of dance music subcultures. Ahead of Rubchinskiy’s Paris show, Dazed released a mix created by Vredno to capture the spirit of the SS14 collection. Listen to it above.
