Watch Cher sing ‘Happiness Is a Thing Called Joe’ in support of Biden

The Goddess of Pop closed out a show in support of the Democratic candidate

Cher has sung a song for Joe Biden, closing Sunday’s I WIll Vote concert in support of the Democratic presidential hopeful with a cover of “Happiness Is a Thing Called Joe”.

The live-streamed show also featured remote performances from P!nk, John Legend, Foo Fighters, and Jon Bon Jovi, as well as guest appearances from the likes of Armie Hammer, Helen Mirren, and Billy Porter.

“As a black, queer, cisgendered man, I march in celebration for how far we’ve come, and in protest for how far we have to go. So remember to get out and vote this November and make your voices heard,” Porter says in the show, before launching into a heartfelt cover of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”.

Cher stole the show however with her concert-closer, for which she tweaked the lyrics of Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg’s classic to give a shoutout to “President Joe”. “He’s got a smile that makes the lilacs want to grow,” she sings as pictures of a grinning Biden fade in and out. “He’s got a way that makes the angels heave and sigh, when they know President Joe’s passing by.”
