Whilst the 22-year-old Irish producer is sunning himself on a current two month Los Angeles hiatus, watch out for his debut release Tried For Your Love on All City and follow-up record on Cooly G's Dub Organiser label. “What excites me more then anything else is getting the chance to expose certain songs and genres in any style to a crowd of people. I think with the amount of DJs playing across genres, it has opened the door and made dropping slow jams in heavy electro sets, or something like that, acceptable. The songs used in this mix I tend to play quite regularly, they’re all tracks I feel have different effects on a crowd and create certain moods. Songs like Father Mc Treat Em Like They Wanna Be Treated are brilliant set openers, the keys almost stop the floor and then the vocals create a curiosity, then the 808 drum loop drops. Treat Em... opens me to play a few more New Jack numbers which I always that find even the most unfamiliar crowd will have a boogie to it.I love playing out the most new sounding boogie and funk stuff and even sample-based stuff like Daft Punk still kills it. Crystal Waters She’s Homeless has been a favourite of mine for years but I’ve never thought a track could have such an amazing reaction, it’s without a doubt my secret weapon. I love to finish the set with something mental and that was something I picked up from Hudson Mohawke when I heard him drop Anita Baker in the middle of a set. Apart from all this, it’s all about the heavy boogie, the funk and those basslines. O'Jays, Whispers, Klear...”1. Father Mc - Treat Em Like They Wanna Be Treated2. Today - Why You Get Funky With Me3.
