Soon to be crowned prince of these low end excursions is LA’s devonwho, a Portland native whose beats have been bubbling through the Soundcloud excesses of late, rising to the top with his Klipmode crew (based over on the East Coast, the Philly trio of Mndsgn, Suzi Analogue, and Knxwledge. The 26-year-old started playing drums as a young ‘un, growing up in a house where his father worked in record stores and his mother rented out rooms to musicians, and that drummer swing resonates through his music today. He released a storming EP KeepTheFunkAlive on Dublin’s premiere purveyors of all things waxy, All City Records and then there’s his remix album up for grabs on Bandcamp that features Shlohmo, Tokimonsta, Teebs and dublab’s matthewdavid.

How would you describe your work?
I really love experimental electronic and I still love hip hop. I also love jazz, funk, soul, progressive rock. I'd say that I incorporate a lot of things I love about those into the beats I make. There's a level of ambience to the newer works as well, but I just go with the flow.
