The ceremony, which is now in its 18th year, aims to celebrate the best music videos created by teams from across England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in the last 12 months. Submissions will be considered in 39 different categories: 12 defined by genre (including pop, hip-hop/grime/rap, dance/electronic, rock and more), four awarded to newer directors who have been working for four years or less, and many more recognising craft and excellence across the range of disciplines that make music videos tick. Among these categories is Best Styling, which will be selected and hosted by Dazed’s content strategy director Danil Boparai for the second year in a row. Also among the categories is Best Low Budget Video, recognising projects made under a budget of £5,000, which will this year be expanded to include visualisers. The Best Casting award will also be returning for the second year running. Last year’s winners include A$AP Rocky’s “Tailor Swif”, which won five awards, including Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects, followed by FKA twigs’ “Eusexua”, which won four awards. The Dazed-hosted Best Styling Award, meanwhile, went to Yung Lean’s “Forever Yung” – styled by Desiree Laidler, director Aidan Zamiri and production company Object & Animal.
