Featuring early hits like “BIPP”, “VYZEE” and “LEMONADE”, SOPHIE’s debut compilation album helped cement her pioneering hyperpop-slash-bubblegum pop sound, bridging fringe electronic music with the mainstream through pitched-up vocals and addictively dynamic production. Now, ten years after it was first released, Product is receiving a new deluxe edition. Included in the ten-year anniversary release of Product are two previously unreleased SOPHIE tracks from the mid-2010s, “OOH” and “GET HIGHER” – each coming complete with SOPHIE’s Product-era minimalist computer-generated single artwork and all-caps titling. Both tracks are available on YouTube now. Additionally, where the original Product album was released alongside original silicon ‘sex toys’, the album’s tenth anniversary edition released by Numbers includes track-by-track slide posters and original artwork. Previously unreleased track “OOH” was originally teased under the name “MAKE RESPECT” back in 2011 during SOPHIE’s performance at a beach afterparty following Barcelona’s Sonar Festival. The track includes vocals from “NOTHING MORE TO SAY” collaborator Jaide Greene, whom SOPHIE reportedly invited to a bedroom recording session after watching her perform alongside Olly Alexander on X Factor in 2009. Meanwhile, “GET HIGHER” was produced in 2013 alongside vocalists Cassie Davis and Sean Mullins and was originally only included as a bonus track in the Japanese CD edition of Product. “Sophie introduced me to myself. She had this unapologetic ferocity for being true to who she was, that was infectious,” Mullins recalls of recording “Get Higher”. “I remember dancing around in the studio, vibing to the energy of creation in a way that I had never experienced before, devoid of ego. That's what Sophie did for me, and I think what she's done for a lot of other people with her incredible ability to connect us all to our higher selves through the act of creativity.” The tenth anniversary edition of Product lands on all major digital streaming platforms tonight at midnight (June 17) and will be appearing in storefronts on July 11.
