The presidential candidate even posted her on the grid
Azealia Banks has a lot of thoughts. And she has a lot of thoughts about one man in particular: Donald Trump. She thinks he’s “fucking funnyyy”. She thinks he’s fat. And she thinks he should return to the White House in 2024, despite her previous support for Ron DeSantis.
Thinking thoughts is all well and good, of course, but at some point you’ve got to actually show up for your political idols. This week, Banks did just that, turning up at a rally at one of the former president’s resorts in Miami, Florida.
Footage from the event was posted to Instagram by the music promoter Jake Inphamous, who was also in attendance, and shared via Twitter. “Donald Trump invited Azealia Banks and I to talk about ‘Hispanic jobs,’” writes Jake in a caption to a video with Banks, which sees her struggle to explain why she’s actually there. “He even posted us.”
Sure enough, the pair can also be seen lingering in the background of a post on Trump’s official Instagram, somewhere between the MAGA hats and ‘Never Surrender’ posters.
Of course it’s no secret that Banks has endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. “He’s just fucking funnyyy,” she told the Standard in November 2023. “He’s been through how many bankruptcies? How many wives? How many television shows? Seriously, nothing can take him down.”
In the same interview, she says that living in Florida feels safer because “everyone carries a gun” – and you “absolutely need guns” to counteract the skyrocketing wealth of technocrats, which might give them an edge “in the event of a nuclear fallout, or a meteor hitting earth”. Many fear that Trump could trigger said nuclear fallout, of course, but Banks suggests that he’s no more dangerous than Biden.
“He didn’t press it the first time,” she says. “You never know, Biden might hit the wrong shit on the antennae and blow the whole thing up.”
What’s more interesting than Azealia Banks’ endorsement of Trump is Trump’s endorsement of Azealia Banks (if she did, in fact, receive a personal invitation to his event). Is there a world in which the “212” rapper gets selected as his running mate? By 2028 or 2032, could we have Banks as the Republican candidate, vs presidential hopeful MrBeast for the Democrats? Dare to dream x
