Dazed Clubbers attended with half-price tickets, while videographer Ksenia Ilina and photographers Lauren Cremer and Prince Atie were there to capture the atmosphere for us after winning our open call. “I’m the biggest fan of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – I’ve probably already said this ten times – and getting to photograph them with Cheryl Waters was honestly a career highlight,” Lauren said. “It meant a lot to me and I hope it shows.” “When you’re looking for ‘treasures’ to capture at the festival, I’m looking both for peoples’ outfits, which were amazing, and their faces – often full of tears, such as during the Slowdive performance,” Ksenia added, reflecting on her experience shooting the festival. “It was a special moment!” Photography Prince AtieWide Awake Festival 2024 by Prince Atie “It was initially nerve-wracking, especially with the pressure of trying to capture multiple stages and attendees with very little time,” Prince explained. “However, as the night went on, what seemed to be a weakness later enabled me to embed a creative essence to the photography, going purely based off emotion and instinct as opposed to producing based off of previous footage of these artists.” ”I was told to keep an eye out for two acts especially, Young Fathers and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, which were most definitely the highlight of the night,” he continues. “The combination of performance, lighting and set design was masterfully executed. There’s an indescribable rush and adrenaline that photographers experience during a performance that lets them know whatever is taken in this moment will be one of my craziest pieces to date.” See their photos above and stay tuned for more festival deals with Dazed Club all summer long.
