Bringing his masked crew of freaks and ghouls to EartH in Hackney, the night saw the twisted world of Aggro Dr1ft come to life, with a balaclava-clad Korine accompanied by an entourage of demonic edgelords wearing horned masks and dancers dressed in all-white with neon hair – a trippy IRL expansion pack to the film’s twisted universe. Projected onto screens behind the decks were ultra-violet clips from the film – again neon highlighting the cult filmmaker’s propensity for ripping apart practically every rule in the playbook. Joining the immersive experience were members of Korine’s new creative studio, EDGLRD, also behind a new music video from Bladee and Yung Lean called “One Second”, which features the same kind of chaotic experimentalism as Aggro Dr1ft, but with even more high-definition gaming sequences and disorientating fish-eye shots. Clearly, it’s pretty fucking weird stuff, and there’s no denying Korine has a distinct aesthetic.
