Get to know the NYC DJ, musician, and label head via five of her closest friends and collaborators
As a DJ, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and label owner, Chloé Caillet leaves no stone unturned in the vibrant dance music scene of New York City and beyond. From her debut EP, Intro, released on CircoLoco Records in 2023, to her 2024 track with certified bestie Dua Lipa, “Training Season”, the musician has been on a steep upward trajectory over the last couple of years, but her multi-hyphenate talents arguably shine through the most in Smiile, a club night and label that distils the “raw, uninterrupted energy of rave culture” into nights of queer liberation, where music acts as a catalyst for self-expression.
Launched in 2023, Smiile was recently expanded into a string of worldwide dates, with Caillet bringing her LGBTQ+ club night to cities including London, Paris, Barcelona, Ibiza, LA, and NYC. This June, fans will also be able to catch a set at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound, which promises a mix of four-on-the-floor bangers infused with the diverse experiences and boundary-pushing creative outlook that have also made her a firm favourite of fashion’s in-crowd, scoring runways by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Miu Miu.
Caillet’s meteoric rise isn’t just a solo effort, of course. As part of her ascent, the musician has cultivated a tight circle of fellow creatives, from Carla Molina Arranz – the art director responsible for the creative vision behind Smiile – to Body By Ken, a dancer who brought “an immaculate vibe” to the club night’s London parties. Get to know the five creatives under Chloé Caillet’s spotlight below.
LEXA SERVICES
“Lexa Services is a remarkable creative agency based in Barcelona, and they’re dear friends of mine. Their expertise in the industry is undeniable, consistently delivering exceptional creativity and innovation in every project they undertake. From sourcing the ideal venue to curating a lineup of top-tier artists, Lexa’s collaborative efforts ensure that each event has a lot of love put in to it. You will find them looking fantastic and edgy in the club dancing the night away.”
CARLA MOLINA ARRANZ
“I chose to include Carla to define Smiile’s community. She is our art director and our creative visioner for all things Smiile. Carla has created a very distinctive identity for Smile. From consistently working with incredible graphic designers to create the essence of what we do. From the visual identity to everything that is communicated online, she is also the one in charge of working with local creatives, bringing them to the party, and also the one you will always see on stage bringing everyone’s energy up for the night.”
THE DINNER CIRCLE
“The Dinner Circle is a supper club based in London, created by Jessamine-Bliss Bell and Jesse Decore. Jessamine has been one of my best friends for nearly 20 years and I decided to collaborate with her to develop the identity of the pre-dinners and the pre-mini parties that we put together before heading to Smiile. These dinners aim to invite different people from our communities. In every city we go in with an intention to create a diverse and safe space for people to connect and meet over curated dinners where Jesse and Jessamine cook for everyone. These dinner circles have been incredibly important to kick-start the evening with an incredible sense of community building. You can find Jesse and Jessamine dancing til the very end in the DJ booth.”
ISABELLA
“ISAbella has been one of the key members of the Smiile community, has played for us a few times in different countries, and is lined up to play at our next party this summer. She is a true icon in her world and is the founder of queer collective Maricas. Isabella and I have known each other for nearly 10 years. I’ve always been such an admirer of her style and her taste in music and her way of lighting up a dance floor wherever she goes. She brings such a special energy to every room she walks into, and has become such an important key member of our community. You can always find ISAbella with the best conversations and sense of humour, and [she is] always making everyone dance around her til the very end.”
BODY BY KEN
“In every city that we go to, we always collaborate with local performers and dancers. Body by Ken was one of our main dancers [at] one of our last parties in London. He curated a group of amazing performers to come and and join in on our Smiile party. He is such an important member of the dance community in London, and brings such an incredible and immaculate vibe to every stage that he stands on. He truly brought the energy to Smiile and brings such a great energy to the stages he takes over. It is super important to always showcase local creatives in every city and create a space [for them] to freely express themselves. Body by Ken embodies all of the ethos behind Smiile. You can always find him giving the craziest dance moves and shapes that you’ve ever seen, with the biggest smiile and the sexiest attitude.”
