If we take this as the album’s starting point then what follows is a battle royale across 26 tracks, with collabs as expansive as Travis Scott and Nicki Minaj to Bring Me The Horizon and BABYMETAL. The Philadelphia rapper has been staying busy since 2020’s Eternal Atake, featuring on over 20 tracks by Tyler, the Creator, Yeat, Baby Keem, Pusha T, Gucci Mane, and more. More recently, we’ve seen them team up with Oli Sykes on Bring Me The Horizon’s culty single “AmEN!” and indie sleaze duo Snow Strippers’ “It’s A Dream” – arguably the song of the summer – not to mention on-stage appearances with Paramore earlier this month. With The Pink Tape clocking in at approximately an hour and 30 minutes, there’s a lot of ground to cover, seamlessly slipping between drill-influenced rapping (expect countless shoutouts to Chief Keef) and the angsty sounds of punk-pop. Naturally, he flexes the usual topics – money, luxury, girls, more money – but there’s also outer space and werewolves: a fantasy speedrun of epic proportions.
