PJ Harvey returns, teasing new song ‘A Child’s Question, August’

The musician shares a clip of the new track alongside an 11-track playlist of previous collaborations

Seven years after the release of her last full-length solo album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, PJ Harvey has announced her imminent return, sharing a number of studio clips via social media and her newsletter.

“I have recently been in the studio with John Parish and Flood, my closest musical partners for nearly 30 years,” writes the musician in her newsletter, linking to an 11-track playlist of songs from her catalogue that are produced by the longtime collaborators. “This is a celebration of their masterful work with me. I am so grateful. Thank you John. Thank you Flood. I love you both.”

Harvey isn’t just looking back over old work, though. She’s also treated fans to two new studio clips and, in a subsequent social media post, a short teaser for an all-new song titled “A Child’s Question, August”, with an accompanying music video filmed by Steve Gullick. The track is set to be released on Wednesday (April 26).

Since releasing The Hope Six Demolition Project in 2016, Harvey has also released a documentary, A Dog Called Money, which documents the creative process behind the record. In 2019, she also composed a score for the stage play All About Eve, and has been stoking speculation about her tenth studio album since early last year.
