Lana – whose real name is Lizzie Grant – will feature on two songs: the album’s title track and another song titled “Hollywood Bowl”. A since-deleted blurb about the album from Rough Trade reads: “Rob Grant releases his debut album, Lost At Sea via Decca Records. An accidental recording artist, Grant has never had a lesson on any instrument in his life. No kind of formal musical training at all. He can’t read sheet music. But when he sits down at a piano, something magical happens. Notes flow from him and out pours composition after composition.” “The father of international icon Lana Del Rey, he enlisted an array of talent to contribute to the making of the album,” the blurb continued. Features and writing credits on the album include his daughter, while production credits include Jack Antonoff, Luke Howard, Laura Sisk, and Zach Dawes. “Now signed to Decca Records, Rob Grant is set to embark on his next venture as he delves into his newfound career in music.” Hours before the announcement, Lana wrote on Instagram: “This is either gonna be the beginning of something beautiful or take us all down… May the force be w all of us. I mean let’s get real – he’s always been the star.” The irony that the singer’s fanbase mostly comprises people who claim to have daddy issues has not been lost on Lana stans. “Lana Del Rey gathering an army of girls with daddy issues only for everyone to find out she actually has mommy issues and will now be giving her alive and well dad a music career is actually hilarious,” one fan tweeted. Lana delved into her mommy issues on her most recent track, “A&W”. Grant has also released a piano piece from the forthcoming album, titled “Settling Sail”. Speaking about the track in a statement, he said: “‘Setting Sail’ is a piano piece that I composed about the happiness and freedom I felt as I would set sail out of Newport, RI in my 25 foot sloop 'Erewhon', heading out to the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.” He continued: “The piano begins slowly and then builds as the sails fill with wind, and the boat begins to heal, leaning into the heavy Atlantic swells. The piano carries you forward as the sloop gains speed, catching more wind, bound for the distant horizon.” You can listen to the song below. Escape the algorithm!
